We left Tulsa on Saturday, June 16th and headed for our first stop: Weatherford, TX. We have friends there (John and Lorraine Brolsma & Family) who invited us to stop by for a few days to visit. Thank you John and Lorraine for your wonderful hospitality. It was great to spend time with you and it was such a blessing to have the Open Doors class at your church pray for us!
Miles Logged: Tulsa, OK to Weatherford, TX = 270
We arrived back in Tulsa on June 14th to finish packing and load up the mule (our Jeep). These few days were probably some of the hardest days we have had to go through in recent times, as we were taking the final step of faith in leaving our home and friends. We had an awesome 4 years in Tulsa, and made many close friends. We will miss them all greatly, but have hopes that we can see them again soon.
It took us a good two days to finish up the last minute packing and to load all we own in the Jeep. We had doubts about how much the Jeep could take, but we were able to load all but a box of books and a baby backpack, all of which we can wait for.
The plan was to ship the hard plastic boxes and a couple of luggages from Monterrey once we crossed the border. In doing this we would avoid all that extra weight going through the various mountain ranges of Mexico.
Thank you so much Kenneth (and Oliver) for letting Lily and I share your home for the last 9 months as we prepared for our journey south. You have been such a blessing to us, and we will miss you both! We have great memories of hanging out with you, and hope to see you in Oaxaca soon!
Before leaving for Oaxaca, we had the pleasure of spending a few days with my family in Fort Wayne, IN. It was so nice to be able to see my Mom & Dad again, as well as my brother Brooke and sister Rhoda (and their families), my Grandmother, my Aunt Nelma and Uncle Larry, and my Aunt Darlene and Uncle Rex! I have not been able to see them for a few years, so the few days that we spent there were such a blessing.
We had a great time eating, playing volleyball, making homemade ice cream, and FISHING! Lily´s mom caught 4 fish (so she says), David (Lily´s stepfather) caught 2, and Lily caught 2. It was the first time for all three of them, and was quite a sight to see!
My Uncle Rex always has something wise to pass along to the next generation. If you are interested in expanding your mind and don´t mind waiting to load this (it is 39 seconds of video), then enjoy!
