Holiday Greetings to all of our Friends and Family!

I will keep this short, as I know how busy this time of year is for everyone. First of all, thank you all again for your prayers and support! We have seen great progress in our adaptation to the culture here in Oaxaca, and are now looking forward to more ministry opportunities with non-believers.

My job with Harmon Hall (www.harmonhall.com) is going great. I am working about 20-25 hours a week, and I am enjoying getting to know both the students and the teachers. I have around 50 students in my four classes. For the holidays we are having a Christmas celebration within the school, and during the celebration we will be singing Christmas carols. While practicing our carol, “Silent Night”, one of my classes asked me what “Redeeming Grace” was! I was able to briefly share why Jesus came into the world and what he did for us on the cross. Thank God for that opportunity to plant seed! Also, not long ago on a bus ride home, one of the teachers (who just happened to be riding the same bus that day) asked me what religion I am. Open door #2! I was then able to explain that I don’t have “religion”, but I have “a relationship” with God. We spoke about this for the whole 20 minute bus ride. More planted seed!

Oaxaca ValleyI thank God for the opportunity to work at Harmon Hall. I really feel that it is a great place to connect with non-believers, and at the same time it is a way for us to supplement our support. Please pray that God will continue to use my job for His purposes. As our six-month anniversary in Oaxaca approaches, we have been praying about what God has for us next. We have it in our hearts that our adjustment period is coming to a close, and that we are ready to begin the work that God sent us here to do. Please pray with us in this area.

Lily sends her greetings. She is still counseling “Pro Bono”, but she has seen great progress in the lives of some of the people she meets with. Please pray that God would continue to use her, and that He might also send patients who are able to pay. She has also been busy decorating our home for the Holidays. We plan to have many people over in the coming days, to share Christmas (and more importantly - why Christmas?) with them.

Since I said I would keep this short, I had better go. We just wanted to let you all know how we are doing, and that we think of you all often. You are all such an important part of our lives…of our ministry here. Thank you for caring about us, and for all that you do for us. We love you and wish you and your families the best Holiday Season ever!!

Merry Christmas!

Derek y Lily
